Qichen received his bachelor's in polymer material from Queen Mary University of London. During his undergraduate studies, he particularly enjoyed projects on thermal catalysis and small organic molecules, where the latter was focussed on luminescent materials. He then joined this group as a Master student. He currently works on charge transport in organic thermoelectric materials.
In his free time he enjoys to play basketball and pool.
